As Founding Director, I was tasked with creating and managing a 17-day internationally recognized fine art program for teens ages 13-17. It was a turn-key operation for the highly respected Oxbow School, a semester-based fine art high schol. My contribution fell into four arenas.
- Establish The Vision: Created the vision and then led staff as we established the culture, goals and pathways to realize that vision. Directed staff as we designed all aspects of the program, including the curriculum, the residential and recreational components and the framework within which it all took place.
- Provide Leadership: Hired a staff of 16 faculty and counselors and designed and taught a 2-week staff training program to teach our core values, how to live them in community, and compassionate ways to work with the issues facing today’s teens. The training was the result of 8 years of my research and experience and resulted in a 100-page comprehensive training manual.
- Oversee All Operations: Oversaw all operations, including creating and adhering to budgets, liaison with school personnel and parents, and handling all behavioral and disciplinary issues.
- Brand and Market the Program: Being solely responsible for enrollment, I creating and implementing a comprehensive and effective marketing plan. This involved extensive design work from establishing the brand to producing all associated collateral pieces over a period of 8 years. All print and web components were needed including a 12-page brochure, ads, banners, large conference displays, website, e-mail templates.
